What is OnboardConnect?
OnboardConnect is a workflow platform for higher education institutions using Slate CRM. It connects student data to account provisioning in Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID and Google Workspace, with steps for campus systems, files and notifications.
How does OnboardConnect connect to Slate?
Query Service steps read student data from Slate, or a workflow can start from a webhook or CSV upload. Source Format steps send mapped data back to Slate, and file steps transfer documents over HTTPS. Your Slate administrator configures the relevant queries, Source Formats and credentials.
Do we need an on-premises agent?
The agent runs as a service on a Windows or Linux server and handles on-premises Active Directory and local resources, including configured SIS and SQL Server connections. It opens an encrypted outbound WebSocket connection. Your network must allow the required outbound traffic; no inbound connections from the internet are required.
Can students reset their own passwords?
Yes. Administrators can enable a branded self-service portal, choose the directory connection that receives resets, and verify students using recovery contacts already on file. Recovery data and messaging providers must be configured before rollout.
Is provisioning instant?
Timing depends on your Slate export or query schedule, workflow steps, queue load and connected systems. Your team can review run history and individual step outcomes rather than relying on a fixed performance promise.
